A native Floridian, Yvonne M. McShay, retired December 2009 Professor Emeritus from Polk State College/Lakeland Campus. She is the author of several professional articles, editorials, and a greeting booklet entitled, A Rainbow. Our Lakeland, The Other End of Florida Avenue is her first book.
Yvonne Mangram McShay received her B.S. from Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Fl. and her M.S. from Indiana University, Bloomington, In. In addition, she is a graduate of three leadership programs- Leadership Lakeland Class Vlll, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Leadership Seminar, and New York Times/The Ledger Focus on Leadership. Yvonne welcomes and applies the leadership skills learned to navigate her through various leadership positions in organizations for which she serves. Some of these are Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Edward Waters College Alumni Association, and St. Marks United Methodist Church, to name a few.
Because Yvonne believes in a global society, she often presents at professional conferences and speak at public forums; in fact, she continues to enlighten the community with her presentations of book reviews, short story discussions, and lectures about African- American writers and famous Floridians.
